Child Nutrition Announcements
Community Eligibility Provision Continuation
The Yakima School District is participating in a federal program available to select schools as part of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program called Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This means that all students attending our District are eligible to receive breakfast and lunch at no charge throughout the 2024-2025 school year, regardless of family or household income.
Summer Meals
Free Meals June 23rd - July 18th for Children Ages 1-18
Free meals will be available for children ages 1-18, June 23rd - July 18th! Just show up and get a healthy and delicious meal. Meals must be consumed on site. To find a location near you, call 509-573-7053 or click here to view our flyer. Please note: All sites will be closed on July 4.

Our approach ensures that children have access to balanced and wholesome meals, incorporating essential nutrients for their growth and development. Additionally, we collect valuable wellness assessment data better to understand each child's nutritional needs and preferences. This information allows us to tailor our meal programs and educational initiatives, empowering children to make healthy choices and cultivate lifelong habits contributing to their overall well-being. Through our child nutrition-focused wellness policy and assessment data, we strive to create a nurturing environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential.

Procedure for Handling Complaints of Discrimination
- Complaints of discrimination must be filed within 180 days of the alleged discrimination.
- Complaints of discrimination should be given to the Child Nutrition Services director, Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. Director will forward to Food and Nutrition Services, Western Regional Office, San Francisco.
- The Child Nutrition Director will also forward all complaints to our District’s Civil Rights officers (see local procedures). All complaints will be logged on a separate form to be kept in the Child Nutrition office.
- Complaints of discrimination may be written or verbal. Use of a form is not required for a person filing a complaint. If a person is unwilling, unable, or not inclined to put the complaint in writing, the person taking the complaint shall do so. (Complaint form attached.)
- Complaints of discrimination should contain as much as possible of the following information:
- Name, address, e-mail address, and telephone number or other means of contacting the complainant.
- The specific location and name of the entity providing the benefits.
- A description of a specific action that caused the complainant to believe that discrimination was a factor.
- Basis on which the complainant feels that discrimination occurred (race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity).
- Name and titles, if known, and addresses of persons who may have knowledge of the discriminatory action.
- The date(s) the alleged discriminatory actions occurred or the duration of such action.
